what is content management

There are many types of Content Management Systems (CMS) - each suited to different tasks

The idea behind all CMS is to enable website owners with no knowledge of HTML (and other technologies) to be able to add to, and edit the content of a website. The content can typically include text, images, audio, video, blog posts, replies to blog posts, administration of user accounts and the creation and removal of pages.

The principle is simple enough but the solutions can be complex and the degree to which a client is satisfied varies considerably. When designing websites to be used with CMS a number of considerations come into play - you can discover these in the 'designing websites' section.
